The Hokianga Community Drawing Project: te ao hurihuri (at the end of the beginning)

On Friday 15 March I presented my paper 'The Hokianga Community Drawing Project: te ao hurihuri (at the end of the beginning)' at Drawing Conversations 5: What and Where is Home? International Conference with University of the Creative Arts, Farnham.

I spoke about my 4-week residency in Rawene, where I introduced drawing as an interlocutor (conversation maker) in collaboration with the community with the aim of uncovering lived experience connections between people, place and location in the Hokianga at a time of climate change. It developed dialogue and exchange between people and within people with an aspiration of living more connectedly to each other and the environment as our only home.

Although the conference was not recorded, I will be preparing a paper for publication in due course and will post a link to the Drawing Conversations 5 e-journal when it is live.
