Climanosco DEAR2050

release of DEAR2050Oceans on the Rise Exhibition catalogue (English translation)

In 2021 the UN launched the “Decade of Marine Scientific Research” with the goal of increasing public awareness of the ocean and its central role in climate and promoting sustainable ocean development by 2030. I was one of the selected artists taking part in Climanosco's Dear2050: Oceans on the Rise exhibition presenting an audiovisual documentation of the tides and communities affected by sea level rise along the coastline of Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).

I made Land Radius2 with Bianca Ranson(Protect Pūtiki), Dr Paula Blackett(NIWA), Alex Rogers (Hauraki Gulf Forum), Stephen Perry (HighArtPhotography), Sharley Haddon(Pakiri), Dr Michael Allis (coastal engineer), Craig Turvey (ocean swimmer).

The exhibition was a message to the year 2050 - the year in which the world is aiming to be climate neutral according to the Paris Agreement. It showed how closely human society is connected to the sea and how climate change is already affecting it.

Please have a look through the catalogue which also presents scientific perspectives through a series of papers that were in the exhibition.
